Hi
In this section the word says it all – this is the building bit – I decided to keep it separate to the main blog as this is of more interest to the same obsessive deluded fools as I who love scratch building.
As some will have noticed I haven’t added to this blog for awhile – this isn’t because SHE WHO MUST BE OBAYED has had me building wardrobes, painting and general DIY, although she has… I picked up the remains of my last project -my Warhound Titan, mentioned in my ongoing wargame blog. This was a Warhound I constructed a while ago from card and paper – unfortunately it fell apart at the hips and I couldn’t strengthen it enough. As most obsessives will tell you projects only get shelved and details and plans bubble away like some witches brew at the back of your mind.. untill one morning you pick up an ordinary household object and – BAM! an idea hits you and the projects back on.
My moment came the other morning and featured a roll-on deodorant – don’t worry it wasn’t anything unnatural – I realised the ball part was ideal for an ankle joint – and so I was off…
I ordered some foamcore pvc and some more plasticard as I had decided to make a more robust construct and I got started. This is the result so far constructed out of 3mm Foamcore pvc and plasticard plastic rod and wooden dowel. I changed the foot slightly from the Forgeworld original as this is a chaos Warhound. I’m also building an Imperial one as well at the same time (a glutton for punishment) which will be more in keeping with the forgeworld one.
Sharp eyed amongst you will notice the top of the roll-on deodorant. Here’s a closer pic of the toe and the detailing the skulls have been shaved from a khorne berserkers chain sword, as is the skull and arrows.
When I do the others I’ll take impressions with Oyumaru Reusable Modelling Compound – fantastic stuff and then cast them in Superfine Milliput.
Anyhow I’ll keep updating as I go along.
